April 3, 2008: When 2009 ends, so do caps on electricity deregulation in Pennsylvania. A state legislator and PPL customers gathered to express their concerns and outrage. PPL plans to start easing customers into the approximate 30 percent rate increase. State Sen. Lisa Boscola says that's against the law, and then there are other repercussions, not just for household bills, but for the costs taxpayers will bear when the new rates, expected to increase as much as 50 percent, impact school districts and local governments.
